Wyle Equipment carries the Symbios (now LSI Logic) boards. Contact
Kathy Dunne ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) for prices, etc. I ordered four of the
SMY8951 boards from her, and they've performed very well as the
interfaces to two, nine-disk RAID-5 arrays attached to a dual 400Mhz
Xeon box. She can also get the new, two-channel SYM22910 boards for
about $265. These boards are supposed to be very hot performers, and
the price compares very favorably with the Adaptec alternative.

We've had no problems whatsoever with the SMY8951 boards, and the
performance has been quite good. Testing with a nine-disk RAID-0
config, throughput was about 55MBs with one controller and about 80MBs
with two controllers - four disks on one and five disks on the other.
Looks like the PCI bus became the bottleneck.

It looks like the Symbios boards have been hard to find for the last
few months due to poor management of LSI Logic takeover. Hopefully
this will be sorted out soon.
