Hi Greg, I'd be tempted to hold off on that combination...  the 958D is,
IIRC
the old style differential controller a.k.a. "High Voltage Differential"
and _not_ LVD. If so not only won't work, but could potentially fry
(literally)
your drives electronics. Can anyone confirm about the adaptor as quick
look
at the 958 manual I can't see any electrical i/o specs ?
Mind you, HVD disks are dirt cheap - see eg.

Not the latest maybe, but 9.1GB F/W 8ms avg read/4.2ms avg lat for
$149.00   :)
