Hello.

I have recently put together a smp box and was faced with the same
question. I had been using slackware for some time and was pretty happy
with it, but it's not yet moved to glibc (it's still libc5-based). I tried
RedHat 5.2 but didn't like it. I ended up going with Debian 2.1 and
installed the necessary system upgrades to move to the 2.2.x kernels, and
added a couple of the smp patches (procps, etc), and it is running
smoothly. I believe RedHat 6.0 gives you the option of installing a SMP
kernel, but I haven't tried it.
I guess if you want a distribution that is easy to install and play with,
you're probably better off with RedHat; other than that, it's a matter of
personal choice, I guess.
