For some nice examples on performance in parallel programming
(with stuff for both SMP, NUMA and clusters), read the book
"In search of clusters" by Pfitzer (sp?)...
The book has both practical examples and info on how the
hardware of the particular architecture works. I can definately
recommend the book.
