Please see http://linux-sunxi.org/Device_Tree.

I've added a reference in
http://linux-sunxi.org/Mainline_Kernel_Howto#Adding_a_new_device,
and don't really feel there's more to add.

As for mainline u-boot,
http://linux-sunxi.org/Mainline_U-boot#Adding_a_new_device_to_upstream_U-Boot,
the situation is a bit more complex, since u-boot-sunxi just became deprecated.

1) Relevant sections from [http://linux-sunxi.org/U-boot] should be
moved/copied over.
2) http://linux-sunxi.org/Device_Page_example still requires work on old u-boot.
3) Many other pages refer to old u-boot, among them all device descriptions.

In particular to point 2), an administrative decision and action is necessary
since this page has been set read only.

As coping with the u-boot wiki stuff is too heroic for me, please everyone,
volunteer.

Kind regards,

  Lars
