Almost every backup software can do this.

Yes, I have seen it but I am not a clicker so I will be executing the
commands from prompt :-) Smith and Wesson is original point and click
interface ;-)
Ftmt or mt works ok. They rewind, retension, position etc. The problem is
with writing onto a tape. I have played with ft_fdc_threshold,
ft_fdc_rate_limit with no effects. Same with parallel port setup in bios -
SPP, EPP, EPC. I am so sad :-((((
