Microsolutions BackPack chipset which responds differently that the
chipset that we wrote the drivers against.
At this stage of the game, I don't expect that we will ever be able to
properly support that drive under Linux. I'll give three reasons behind
this statement:
1> The chipset is no longer supported by Microsolutions, therefore, they
can't (won't?) help us.
2> The drive is over 2 years old and no longer supported by Seagate
(Conner/Archive/Maynard ...), so they can't (won't?) help us.
3> Other, higher capacity and performance devices are available for
under $200 that already work successfully under Linux.
Do yourself a favor and think seriously about retiring that drive and
opt for a more currrent and supported device.
