As stated in "The Ftape Installation and Usage Guide - zftape devices"

8.1.3.5: `/dev/zqft*', `/dev/nzqft*'
....
When the ftape-4.02 driver is used with these device nodes, it treats the cartridge as
write protected, as writing of
compressed volumes is no longer supported....

Hi!

Trying to kill the keyboard, [EMAIL PROTECTED] produced:
> [root@server /home]# tar -cvf /dev/zqft0 ./
> tar: Cannot open /dev/zqft0: Read-only file system
> tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Many floppy tapes have a little plastic switch to toggle between
read-write and read-only, just like a real floppy. It's on the
front left side, so take out the tape and check the setting ...
outside is read-write, more to the center is read-only.
