Hello,
I have a Iomega Ditto Easy 3200 internal tape drive. I have the unit
installed for about a year now. I am using kernle 2.0.30 and Ftpae 3.04d
with taper 6.8.2 (I think it is 6.8.2). I also have a Ditto Dash card.
The computer is an Intel 486-66 with 16 mb RAM.
The drive works... most of the time! But it gives my some error when
writting to it. I do not have the log with me at this, but I can provide
them if necessary. I do not want to go into any details, but sometimes the
drive is "shoeshinning" ad nauseam, and does not do anything.
I am looking at the mail in the linux-ftape since a while, and I saw that a
lot of people have problems with the Ditto Max. I did not see any memtion
about the Ditto Easy 3200.
So I have two questions:
1- Does anybody know if there is any problem to use the Ditto Easy, and do
I have to upgrade to Ftape 4.02, or Kernel 2.2.x.
2- I saw a HP Colorado T3000 for a good price, and I am thinking of
switching my drive if there are problems withbthe Ditto Easy 3200. So,
does the HP Colorado T3000 is a drive that we can use? I did not see any
mention of it in the Ftape-HOWTO Version 3.0. (BTW: it does mention too
much about the Ditto Easy 3200, just the Ditto 3200, and I do not know if
it is the same thing as a Ditto Easy 3200).
