Had similar problems. Tape drive (Ditto Easy 3200 Insider) often
spooled fast-forward or -reverse far off the mark, often to BOT
or EOT. Probably a monday unit. Next one will be SCSI (or IDE).
I patched the ftape 3.04d so the requests for F-F or F-REV were
halved, shorter searched were done by slow-search and the fallback
to slow-search was very soon. Mail if you want the diff.

4.02 has some important write error recovery features, but won't
have hardware compression. 2.2.x and ftape does not mix very
well at the moment, but will hopefully soon.

No, that's the Ditto Max (Pro) and the Ditto Dash II ... the
Ditto 3200 is some other beast, a normal floppy tape drive, not
a 'high speed' (hah) unit.

AFAIK they are the same, the 'easy' just refers to the easy,
one-click-backup, windows software ... I think.
