This was before I upgraded kernel & ftape version. Its no longer a problem.
Usually 'make distclean' does the trick. =)

I use an Iomega Ditto 1Gb (lets be frank, it holds 1Gb not 2 =) with a Ditto
Dash (not PnP) card. Incidentally when using it, ftape periodically says:
 fdc-isr.c (get_transfer_size) - DMA residue <-> FDC result mismatch! This is no Ditto 
EZ FDC
But it still works fine.

I can't find the logs from after both the massive file dump and after the crash.
Perhaps I deleted the former (it was BIG!) and fsck 'fixed' the latter. =)
