First, the default DMA for built-in floppy controllers is 2, not 0.  Try
changing this in the ftape-internal module's insmod.

Next, purchase an accellerator card for the drive - the Ditto Dash or
Seagate cards work fine with the 1500.  Your built-in floppy controller
can more than likely only move data at 500Kb/s.  QIC-3020 requires a
minimum of 1000Kb/sec.

Or ... you can get QIC-3010 tapes, which work fine with your slower
controller.
