Hi -

this is a well known problem - please upgrade to one of the so called
unstable drivers as long as you use 2.2.x-kernels. You'll
find them at

http://www.math1.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/unstable/

but don't mind the word unstable, they work rather well.
