Hi all - just posting a follow-up on this thread - unfortunately I still
can't seem to get past the 12GB limit... I changed the tape size to 0 in
the brutab file to no avail - even when writing using tar the write still
bombs out just before 12Gb - I'm thinking that the way the device /dev/st0
has been set up is passing a "disable compression" command to the tape
unit...
As you can guess I'm pretty clueless in this department - was hoping that
someone could either point me in the direction of some documentation on how
I would get the drive working with hardware compression - or where (mail
list / web pages) I might go to get help.
I would also appreciate hearing if anyone can confirm that they are getting
successful DDS-DC - especially if it is with a Seagate 12/24 drive like ours
I'm running a Redhat 5.2 setup on intel hardware.
Thanks in advance,
Dan.
ps. is this the right list to be asking SCSI DAT related questions?
