Hi Peter,

I should say 1st that you will get the best answers by subscribing to
the Linix Tape List for a while.  The people there are very
knowledgeable and will help.  My info on ftape is getting a little
dated at this point.

Actually the 2.0.x kernels because modutils-2.1.85 was written for the
2.1.x kernels so I would not need to recommend it's use for them.

At the time (Feb 1999) that I stopped getting the Linix Tape List the
ftape version was up to 4.03.

Printer support has nothing to do with ftape unless you are using the
parallel version.  However, you didn't mention which driver of the
ftape package you are using.  The best thing to do is look at your
/var/log/messages file for any errors.  Also knowing how your
/etc/conf.modules is set up would help.

As I mentioned earlier post a message directly to the List, the people
there can help better than I.
