The ftape project provides kernel level device drivers for QIC-117
(usually called floppy-tape) and Parallel-port based QIC-117 tape
drives.

If you have an older TR-3 or lower drive, it is possible to use the
driver version provided with the kernels. However, if you are using a
Ditto 2GB, Ditto MAX, or Parallel port drive, you must use the latest
version of the drivers. The latest version is available as an
"unstable" release from the ftape home page
(http://www.math1.rwth-aachen.de/~heine/ftape/archives/ftape-4.x/unstable/)
or at EST's ftp site (ftp://ftp.estinc.com/pub/linux/).

Please be sure to read the included README files and the MCONFIG file
before compiling and using these latest drivers.
