ftape is a bag of modules that build an interface to tape drives
which are called floppy tape drives. This includes some of the
variant which is connected to the paralell port. There is support
for the internal floppy disc controller as long as some
accelerator boards.

ftape comes with an emulation of the SCSI MTIO command set so
backup programs designed for SCSI tapes will be able to use
floppy tape drives.

There are some tools that include a formatting program, that
means that it is possible to format tapes under Linux if the
floppy tape drive is able to format tapes.
