Subject line says it.

I installed ftape-4.02 and ftape-tools 1.07 with kernel 2.2.12 on Caldera Open
Linux 2.2

My hardware is Freetech F103 mobo using ali aladin-V (15xx) chip set, AMD
K3-333 and 128MB ram.

Tape drive is Colorado T1000 (Travan T-1)

Controller is Colorado FC-20

Ftape loads as a module with the FC-20 at 0x180, IRQ3, and DMA1.

"make check" completes without errors.

I can successfully complete the tests outlined in the ftape instructions with
ftmt that retension, erase, write to and read from the drive.

When I try to format a tape:
"ftformat -f /dev/nqft0" results in the message:
Ioctl error sending enter primary mode command: Permisson denied
"ftformat -f /dev/nrawft0" results in the message:
Unknown format API version. Giving up.

As far as I can tell from reading the ftape docs, I should be able to format
tapes in this drive. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom garson
