so, first i re-compiled my kerel WITHOUT ftape (make clean,, make dep
make modules) moved all the modules out of lib/modules/2.2.12, then did
a make modules_install, did the rest of the ker. install thing...
compile the latest ftape from the dev site, did a make, make install,
seems to be OK, here is what i find in /dev that MAY be ftape related -
i have been trying to get ftape to work for a LONG time

i then do a .../modules/. insert, which seems to work... then i try to
compile ftape-tools and get...

that gets me this ....

ftmt: /dev/tape: No such file or directory
where should /dev/tape point to , and why has it not been created?
anyway, thats whats happening in THIS box, expect another message from
me about the other box that ftape is broken on...
