Trying to kill the keyboard, chien-yu chen
([EMAIL PROTECTED]) produced 0,9K in 26 lines:

should return within seconds if the modules are loaded and
thus remember the position, up to a minute if it has to load
everything and read the tables at BOT[1].  Add up to 3 minutes
if the tape was not rewound (for rewinding)

> ftmt -f /dev/qft0 retension

Should be finished within 5-10 minutes, as it really only
spools to EOT, and then back to BOT.

Is the tape despooled?  If so, you have a hardware problem!
(Are you sure you really have a *floppy* tape?)
