You will probably discover that this new tape is also despooled.

This is a common problem with the Ditto 2GB drive.  The sensor that
detects the end of tape has gone bad.  Therefore, the drive never
realizes that it has finished your operation.

Recommendation - DO NOT put any more tapes into this drive.  Repair or
replace the drive as soon as possible.
