All,

I'm having some difficulty getting this tape drive to work with the ide-tape driver
(I'm sure you've heard this before). I understand the creator of the ide-tape driver
knows about the issues involved from some mailing list archives I found on the
Internet. Also from the Vice Pres. of the company that makes BRU (forgot the names).
I last message I saw about this drive, however, was in Feb. 1999, a year ago. I'm
wondering if any progress has been made by anyone in any way to get this tape drive to
work. I saw no mention of any improvements for this drive specifically in the
ide-tape.c driver in the latest linux 2.3.x kernel, although I also haven't tried
running said kernel.

Does anyone know about this?

If not, can anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive and fully functional internal
IDE tape device that can hold at least 10GB? 'Er, at least 5GB uncompressed.

Thanks.

        -Fred Whipple
