Thanks for the info.
1) I wasn't aware I needed the kernel source on the
system. What's there is "/usr/src/linux/include/*.h"
files. I was able to compile version 4.x-1999_02_26,
but got error's when trying to write to tape. After
downloading the lastest source, the INSTALL file (1d)
intimated I could live without source and to read the
MCONFIG file. The MCONFIG file says that if
$(LINUX_LOCATION)/.config doesn't exist to edit the
parameters in the 'else' section, which shows that
CONFIG_MODVERSIONS can be used if
$(LINUX_LOCATION)/include/linux/modversions.h exists;
which it does.
Should I install the source and give it a go? I'm not
sure what the error messages are telling me.
2) Do you know what the most prevalent ATAPI/IDE
devices being used are?
Regards,
Bob Johnson :-)
