Edward,

ftape-4.x-1999_09_11 and ftape-tools-1.07 work ok with the Ditto
Max and Linux kernel 2.0.3x. My setup used the Ditto-EZ controller
card with a dedicated IRQ and DMA channel.

There's no advantage (that I'm aware of) for using a Ditto Max Pro
under Linux. The standard Ditto Max can still achieve 10GB with the
right tape and data compression.

If you want to upgrade to a newer 2.2.x kernel then you might have
problems. I was ok with Red Hat 6.x upto kernel 2.2.12 but upgrading
to 2.2.14 has exposed some problems in the ftape driver.

I should emphasise that the above-mentioned ftape and ftape-tools
come from Claus Heine's unstable development tree. Using them could
be considered risky and my recent experience confirms this.

Regards,
Neil Darlow.
