hmm, I now got the newest version of ftape (4.03), recompiled & installed, selecting 
the 
"enhanced adapter card" in MCONFIG, and used the standard settings of the streamer 
interface
(IRQ6,DMA2,IO370) and put your lines into my modules.conf - still the same error.
ftape says it's probing for "ftape-internal tape driver slot X", then hangs for app. 
5 seconds, and then prints that no-device-found- error.

So I tried to attach the drive directly to the standard floppy controller, changed
MCONFIG again, and recompiled - no other results.

Is it possible that there are wrong settings in the kernel? What else can I do?

The drive should be OK, it seeks the tape if I put it in etc. - everything seems to be
OK.
