No, I didn't try with an OHCI controller - I don't have one. I guess mine may be a hardware/firmware problem. I have just used SniffUSB under windows 98 to log what happens when I try the failure scenario there. Indeed, wierd stuff seems to occur when another device is plugged in - but I'm not sure how to decode the log, so this may take me a while to work out!
