lm_sensors is _NOT_ for the 2.6 kernel tree. The release clearly states this and will not work, and is not supposed to work. > The kernel itself has only a limited subset of the i2c stuffs in it. Help is needed in porting the i2c code from the lm_sensors cvs tree to the kernel tree. I've ported the drivers that I have hardware for and have posted detailed instructions on how to do this for others if they want to see their specific i2c devices show up in 2.6. See the lkml archives for details if you are interested. But again, this is not a kernel issue, but an out of tree package, nothing that the kernel developers can do, and nothing that should stop you from using 2.6. > I have it working with kernel 2.4.22-pre8 yet, but so far 2.4.22-pre10 > has failed. I've managed to get i2c-viapro to build, but then depmod > screams, and modprobe fails. Then go bug the sensors developers for keeping their code out of the main kernel tree, again, not a kernel developer issue. > I actually have 2 independent problems with the test 2.6's, lm_sensors > has died, and scsi has died. lm_sensors user library does not work on 2.6 due to the port to sysfs. scsi _should_ work for you. If it doesn't, please let the people on the linux-scsi mailing list know about it. It works for me and many others :) > >> Sucks dead toads thru soda straws to me. Sign up for lkml, you should get a copy of the message you sent, I do. > It apparently is not, which makes it rather difficult to keep a > record of what actually made it to the list. :( Ahh, found it by > subject line. Hm, that doesn't sound like a 2.5 issue :) > The person who wrote bugzilla must be some shirt-tail kin of the > Marquis deSade. If you don't like using bugzilla (and many people do not.) then just use the mailing lists. No one is forcing people to use it. And bugzilla is better than the alternative bug reporting systems... thanks, greg k-h ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
