Thanks for your reply. I rebooted, (usbcore and usb-uhci were automatically loaded), modprobe usb-storage, modprobe sd_mod. I saved the log in "not_connected.log".
Then I connected the reader without any memory cards inserted and I got "connected_no_card.log". Then I put a compact flash and run 'dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=1 count=1" and after a few log messages (see "dd_cmd_and_panic.log") I got a kernel panic. Note timing in the abobe log messages, there are very log delays. I'm still not able to reproduce the working environment.
