Greg; I've noted that the dmesg contains a couple of lines regarding the pl2303 I have, and which is normally hooked up to an old trs-80 color computer in the basement. Its unusable due to problems in the rts/cts emulation (I think), which may not be related to this from dmesg:
drivers/usb/core/usb.c: registered new driver usbserial drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial Driver core v2.0 drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: Had to override the write_room usb serial operation with the generic one. drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: Had to override the chars_in_buffer usb serial operation with the generic one. drivers/usb/serial/usb-serial.c: USB Serial support registered for PL-2303 drivers/usb/core/usb.c: registered new driver pl2303 drivers/usb/serial/pl2303.c: Prolific PL2303 USB to serial adaptor driver v0.10 kernel is 2.6.2-rc2 ATM, but I've been looking at this for several weeks now.
