And as I said, they may not be there unless your syslog is appropriately configured. "dmesg" output (not /var/log/dmesg, the "dmesg" command) should have the most recent debug messages, regardless.

The patch I sent affects functions _called by_ that routine, making them give better diagnostics.


If this is the case as I hope you can confirm then prehaps my changes are not getting compiled in
properly or I am mis-using the debug statements.
dmesg is no different to the one I first sent you.

If you're not seeing anything with "dmesg" output, you're clearly not building/installing correctly.
