nVidia binary graphics module not available for 2.6, perhaps ;-)

AFAIK, the takeover code wasn't changed. So, for some reason BIOS does
not want to give up. Perhaps 2.6 has a better ACPI which tells it
to release the keyboard and, by extension, the host controller.
Try to plug keyboard into the second controller, check if the
takeover problem travels with it. If yes, ACPI time...
