On an nForce2 motherboard with two OHCI USB busses, both are found, but one fails to load in 2.4.26:
# modprobe usb-ohci ... PCI: Setting latency timer of device 00:02.0 to 64 usb-ohci.c: USB OHCI at membase 0xce866000, IRQ 11 usb-ohci.c: usb-00:02.0, nVidia Corporation nForce2 USB Controller usb-ohci.c: USB HC TakeOver failed!
What happens if you just increase smm_timeout in usb-ohci.c::hc_reset() from 1/2 seconds to 5 seconds? Sometimes BIOS just doesn't react as quickly as one would like, and 1/2 second just wasn't enough in some cases.
