You would have to ask Matt Dharm, the maintainer for usb-storage.

However, it seems pretty unlikely now that this the correct sort of fix.  
The best thing would to use usb-storage debugging to track down more 
precisely the source of your problem.  Maybe it's nothing to do with the 
camera at all, but something wrong with the host controller or its driver.
