That would seem to match /var/log/messages output, not "dmesg" ...
And when I try to use it:
ifconfig usb0
usb0: error fetching interface information: Device not found
This all works with 2.6.10 with the same setup.
That doesn't seem like much debug info. How do I get more?
/var/log/messages isn't debug output at all, it's normal logging.
Use "dmesg" to get KERN_DEBUG class messages ... or do what I do, and
configure syslog, using /etc/syslog.conf, so that "kern.*" messages
are saved in /var/log/kernel

Looks like my kern.=debug is going to the firewall log. :-)
