Well, after the complete failure to recognize the stick I tried with my laptop, both Linux and Windows XP and neither sees the stick any more. So it seems this one has failed. I did leave it in the port during last night, but it should be able to take that, shouldn't it. Now the question is: Was it faulty all the time and what was the sanity of the 3 other failing sticks? Unfortunately I don't have access to these any more and cannot verify anything. So back to the shop again ;-) I am trying to find some more different brands of USB-sticks and make a new test series. Anyway your SCSI patch fixed the need for a reboot after a failing stick was inserted, very grateful for that!
