Well, after the complete failure to recognize the stick I tried with
my laptop, both Linux and Windows XP and neither sees the stick
any more. So it seems this one has failed. I did leave it in the port during
last night, but it should be able to take that, shouldn't it.

Now the question is: Was it faulty all the time and what was the sanity
of the 3 other failing sticks?
Unfortunately I don't have access to these any more and cannot verify
anything. So back to the shop again ;-)
I am trying to find some more different brands of USB-sticks and make
a new test series.

Anyway your SCSI patch fixed the need for a reboot after a failing
stick was inserted, very grateful for that!
