Hmm, actually i don't need a specific latency.

This sounds more like the thing i want. I like to have as much bandwidth
as possible, but i don't really need it. 

So the control messages weren't a bad choice. I just have to assign them to an 
interface to cope with the fact that some of them change the state of the 
device.
