I don't see anything that is obviously incorrect, unless you need to use a printer filter that is more correct for this printer model. No, the 1000 isn't compatible with the LaserJet 4; the model 4 uses PCL internally but the 1000 does not. Usually. http://www.linux-usb.org/USB-guide/x342.html http://www.linuxprinting.org Oops. linuxprinting.org says that the LaserJet 1000 is a paperweight: not useful in Linux. That's because it doesn't use PCL (HP's Printer Control Language). The Windows driver for the 1000 must convert all of its output to bitmapped (rasterized) data to send to the printer for printing.
