Just to make it clearer, Stephen asked you to supply the information
that is requested in the FAQ.  As you ignored his request I wouldn't
be surprised if he just didn't bother trying to help you further.

Although if you read the FAQ as carefully as you read Stephen's
message, perhaps you'd better read the FAQ again.

For what it's worth, I believe RH8.0 comes with kernel 2.4.18 and I
had a lot of trouble with USB until I upgraded to 2.4.19 - although I
don't generally use RedHat, these are homebrew systems which started
life as Slackware 3.something several years ago.
