I have a number of problems with a number of usb-storage devices (flash
card readers and flash drives). They are all rather clearly
kernel-related, resulting in oopses, timeouts, hangs, or inability to
access the drives in certain ways (while other ways seem to work).

I'm using 2.4.21-rc1.

Before I go into details (which is obviously a lot of work) I want to
check the basics. Should I:

  a) upgrade the kernel to another version,
  b) download a well-known patch that fixes most usb-storage problems,
  c) write a detailed report about all problems, because usb-storage in
2.4.21-rc1 is expected to work and bug reports are welcome?

thanks,
--J.
