I'm trying this on my Vaio laptop where the memorystick reader shows up as /dev/sda. When I plug the USB device in, I see ..
hub.c: new USB device 00:14.0-2, assigned address 9 WARNING: USB Mass Storage data integrity not assured USB Mass Storage device found at 9 sda : READ CAPACITY failed. sda : status = 1, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 08
.. where I would have assumed it would use sdb? Or, is the sda message a bit of a red herring? (Considering there's no memorystick actually in the machine)
scsi_info says
vaio:/home/ottaky # scsi_info /dev/sdb SCSI_ID="0,0,0" MODEL="IBM-DARA -212000" FW_REV="0811"
Which seems correct .. but the morystick reader seems to have the same ID ..
vaio:/home/ottaky # scsi_info /dev/sda SCSI_ID="0,0,0" MODEL="Sony MSC-U03" FW_REV="1.00"
Is this normal?
Anyway, trying to mount /dev/sdb1 always returns a "not a valid block device".
Any ideas?? ;-)
