What's pertinent is: hub.c: new USB device 00:1f.2-2, assigned address 2 usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x1645/0x7) is not claimed by any active driver. It would seem that I don't really have any SCSI devices registerd. For exmple the /proc/scsi/scsi file looks like: Attached devices: Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00 Vendor: Model: Rev: Type: <NULL> ANSI SCSI revision: ffffffff > >If you look at /var/log/messages there might be a hint. > >If you can run 'cdrecord -scanbus' that might say something about your >scsi device ids but it won't tell you if it's for example /dev/sdb. That was interesting. 'cdrecord -scanbus' completely froze on my system. I had to close the terminal window to get rid of it. Evidentally, I'm treading new ground :-| >You might need sr_mod and sg loaded. So, it would seem that the kickstarting of this SCSI subsytem isn't really working for me. 'Scuse my ignorance, but "sr_mode and sg"?
