Hi, and thanks very much guys. Some answers:

I've just been offered this 128M AudioKey and it works fine if I use only Linux (MDK 8.2, kernel 2.4) or only Windows (98 2nd ed).

But if I write MP3 files onto the key from Linux and some time later plug the key into the same PC running windows 98, it simply erases all the files I copied from Linux (and only these)!!!

Are you sure it erases them? Have you checked that they're gone by
first re-reading the card after unplugging it _before_ you use W98...

Yes: I can listen to the MP3 files and see them on the key's display after unplugging it from Linux!

...to
destroy the data, and then plugging back into Linux afterwards to see
what Linux thinks is there?

After plugging the key into W98, Linux thinks there are no files at all (except for the SETTINGS.DAT put by the key even after formatting, and the possible files that I wrote from W98, which are the ones and only ones not erased).

Are you unmounting the card properly from
Linux?

I do a "umount" and unplug the key. And if I re-plug it before using W98 then the files are still there all right (as I said at the very beginning of my previous message if I use *only* Linux the key works really fine).

Is there just the one partition on the card? Are you sure
it's a properly formatted vfat partition?

The key is seen as *one* removable disk, and I even re-formatted it from windows rather than from Linux, precisely to make sure it was properly formatted.

Am I still missing something?
Best regards,
