reHi, FYI: I'm pretty sure now that the player is actually the "Packard Bell AudioKey L PA30/256MB" internally, so this might apply to Laurent Mugnier's problem as well.
My problem was that I formatted the stick using W2K. If I use "mkfs.msdos /dev/sda1", everything's fine. I can now use it with windoze and linux boxes w/o any problems, no files vanish. That weird behaviour is reliably reproducable. Whenever I format the stick with W2K, the files copied to it with Linux will vanish when plugging the stick into the usb hub (even w/o mounting it), regardless of long or short filenames. Upon using mkfs everything works perfectly (long filenames, too). thanx a lot for your time, Johannes -- Powered by SuSE 8.1pro - KDE 3.0.3 - KMail 1.4.3 At least, try asking smart questions: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html ------------------------------------------------------- The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and Integration See the breadth of Eclipse activity.
