sorry I searched the ml archives for the keywords above but found anything significant.


Can you confirm that the "Loading...................." phase of boot is VERY VERY slow (30 to 45 sec)?
I don't think it depends on which module initrd will load, because initrd/linuxrc is still to be executed.
How do you explain that?


Does it depend on the BIOS or on the bootloader (I think it is the latter that controls this "Loading....." phase, but maybe it just relies on the BIOS). By the way, I use LILO.
Do you know of any project to make LILO load faster from a USB HD? (already checked in the www.linuxbios.org)
