I am using a Logitech MX700 mouse, attached to the onboard USB
controller of a VIA motherboard.  Apparently at random, the mouse will
stop sending events, or the USB controller stops receiving them.

This only started when I upgraded from kernel 2.6.5 to 2.6.7.  I have
another system running kernel 2.6.7 on a different computer using a
Logitech MX900 mouse with a OPTi USB controller and it has no problems,
so I suspect that the VIA controller driver is the problem.

I can make the mouse start working again by doing cat
/sys/bus/usb/devices/2-2/product.

Now I'll attach all the messy details that REPORTING-BUGS says to
include. :-)
