What would really help is if you send the dmesg output for the time when 
your mouse stops responding.

The fact that you can get it working again suggests that this is not a 
problem with the controller driver but rather with the HID driver.  Or 
maybe with the mouse itself.  Have you tried attaching your MX700 mouse to 
that other computer?
