What is the proper behaviour for /dev/usb/* entries with USB-to-serial adapters and devfs? Do the /dev/usb/tts/* entries only get created when some device at the other end of the cable somehow initiates a connection?
I was hoping to be able to connect via null modem cable to the serial port on a Sun box. My laptop only has USB ports, no serial, so I got a USB-to-serial adapter, but so far that is not working, since there are no /dev/usb/tts entries for minicom to connect to. Any way around this? Thanks Mark -- we're outta control
