Hi, No, it is not a general problem with USB enclosures. I just got one for an old 2.5" HDD from CablesToGo (although you can find it cheaper as no-name brand elsewhere, I believe), which appears to have the following chipset: http://www.myson.com.tw/products.php?op=pdetail&flang=EN&ProductKind=2&ProductNo=100 Works fine on FC with 2.6.7-1.494.2.2smp at full-speed. The only "odd" behaviour I noticed (ok, not sure if it is odd) is that, when copying many small files (say, a few thousand files, each ~20KB), only then it takes a really long time (and the drive seems to be idle for large periods, while the the load on one of the CPUs goes up to 100%). When copying large files, everything works perfectly, with negligible CPU utilization. I'm not sure if it is the chipset or the driver (or both) that is causing this, as I do not have a machine with another OS right now to test this (incidentally, the drive is formatted as FAT32 iwth 8KB clusters). But since I rarely copy many small files, this is not really a problem for me.
