Hi folks,

Well, I've had two *delightful* experiences with USB 2.0 on two separate
machines, with two different USB 2.0 cards using two different USB Logitech
mice.

Machines: AMD K6-500 and AMD Duron 800
(used mouse + Lexmark C510 at 2.0 on the Duron - works beautifully.)
OS: Mandriva 2006 - kernel 2.6.12
Bootloader: LILO

On either machine:
After about an hour, the mouse froze as well as the desktop. Rebooted: worked
for a few minutes, then froze again. Then what really disturbed me: I
couldn't boot in again - the root was trashed. Forced a re-install in one
case, and an update/re-install bootloader in the other.

I'm afraid to use the USB 2.0 card if it's going to wipe out my system again.
While the machines still could boot, I watched the screen output - and OHCI,
UHCI, and EHCI all loaded correctly. On the last attempt - just before it
trashed my root - I had removed the USB 2.0 card and reverted to 1.1. On
reboot, nothing showed up. Rebooted again, and goodbye root. Dmesg after
re-install showed nothing abnormal.

My question: has anyone else experienced this? Is there a problem/workaround
that addresses this? Help?

Tia,
Andre
