So you don't know how to apply the patch?

Of course, the advice given on the backport web page is:

"For those that don't know how to apply the patch, and I
really don't recommend such people to play with development code
like this, here are the commands needed to apply it to the 2.2 kernel:".


You realize that this is code from a development kernel, right?
When backported to 2.2.x, it's still development code, right?
Development code can/may/will break, right?
It's OK with you if you have to reinstall Linux and lose
everything that you currently have, right?

If you answered Yes to the 4 questions above, then you can
apply this patch by (basically the same as you apply any patch):
  cd /usr/src/linux
  patch -p1 -b < download_patch_file_name
